- Next, calculate the area of one plywood sheet. For example, a 4×8 sheet covers 32 square feet. A 5×5 sheet covers 25 square feet.
- Now divide the total area by the area of one sheet. This gives you the number of sheets you need before adding any extras. For example, if you are covering 800 square feet using 4×8 sheets, divide 800 by 32. You will get 25 sheets.
- Add a little extra for waste. Multiply your result by 1.10 for 10 percent extra or by 1.15 for 15 percent. Always round up to the next whole number to make sure you have enough.
