What is an Air Exchange Rate Calculator?

This tool helps you determine how many times the air in a room is completely replaced each hour or minute. By entering either the room volume, the floor area plus ceiling height, or the room dimensions alongside your HVAC or fan airflow rate, you get a clear ACH (air changes per hour) and ACM (air changes per minute) value.

How to use it

  • Select known value
    Choose whether you know the room volume, the floor area, or the full dimensions.
  • Enter measurements
    • If you know volume, type it in and pick the unit (ft³, m³, in³, US gal).
    • If you know area, enter floor area and ceiling height with their units.
    • If you know dimensions, enter length, width, and height with their units.
  • Enter airflow rate
    Provide your fan or HVAC airflow and select the unit (CFM, m³/min, m³/h, L/s, L/min).
  • Click “Calculate”
    The calculator will convert everything under the hood, then display ACH and ACM.
  • Click “Reset”
    Clears all inputs and returns to the default “Room Volume” mode.
